Abstract


Real Exchange Rate - Foreign Trade Relationship: An Examination on Manufacturing Industry Sectors of Turkey (2005-2012)
In this study; it is aimed to determine that whether there is a relationship between real effective exchange rate and foreign trade or not. In this context, by using monthly data of 2005:01-2012:12 period, relationships between Real Effective Exchange Rate and import-export of manufacturing industry sectors of Turkey are examined with econometric methods. In this study, export and import values of 22 sectors which take part in International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC Rev. 3)–II Digit are analyzed. According to the results, in accordance with the theoretical expectations, it is determined that Real Effective Exchange Rate and export-import of various sectors are co-integrated in the long run, that there are causality relations between Real Effective Exchange Rate and export-import of various sectors, and that the causality relation mostly runs from Real Effective Exchange Rate to export and/or import of sectors.
